On October 14 marked our inaugural RADAR Awards presentations to: Gemma Booth; Cathy Knowsley; Gabby Prestige; Pam Fuller and Stephen Fuller.
The recipients of the inaugural Port Nicholson Rotary Club RADAR Awards are:
Gemma Booth
Gemma is the assistant director of sales at Intercontinental Wellington. She tries to build meaningful and lasting relationships with people and to lead by example. She loves connecting with and getting to know her clients. She aims to get the best out of people.
Cathy Knowsley
Cathy runs Orange Sky, a laundry on wheels for homeless people. She loves to sit down and talk with people. Her parents were people who gave a lot and for a while she felt that something was missing in her life. She now feels more connected to the community and enjoys helping the homeless overcome their loneliness.
Gabby Prestige
Gabby is the head chef at the Wellington Club. Her goal is to bring families, friends and the wider community together and to try to go the extra mile. For her it is important to look after her staff as well as their plates. Her job is much more than just the preparation of meals. She thanked Rotary for the award and also her mentors.
Pam Fuller and Stephen Fuller
Pam and her son Stephen have given more than three decades of service to Zealandia. Pam has enjoyed being part of a great project. She recognises that volunteers are a crucially important component of the team and has enjoyed seeing the progress of Zealandia. She noted with satisfaction that many of the people she met 30 years ago are still there.
Stephen mentioned that the first few years were like a roller coaster. He needed to put in very long hours during the early years and noted that the hard work of volunteers had been very important. Fundraising was a vital activity during those years and sometimes some “crazy” ideas were needed. He appreciated the close relationship with Rotary.
