Our speaker on the 16 September got personal.

It was a pleasure to welcome Melanie Young to our morning breakfast meeting  to speak to us about her very successful Osteopath practice in Wellington.  Recently City Osteopaths received the Osteopaths New Zealand research champion clinic recognition 2026 award at the national Osteopathic conference.

She spoke with a passion about the effectiveness of her work and it was noted during her talk that many Rotarians at the breakfast meeting have benefitted from her service.

Melanie explained that she had early aspirations to be a ballet dancer but sadly a bad ankle injury in the mid-1980s put an end to this career path.   She explained that five years later she went to see an osteopath in London. After achieving a very positive result from her treatment she researched Osteopathic Medicine and it turned out it was the perfect career for her. She had a real passion for  Anatomy/Physiology/Health and saw how effective the gentle osteopathic approach was. She will often also recommend Taichi and Pilates exercises to help people move more freely with less pain.

On another personal note, Melannie is the daughter of a former member, Stuart Young.
