The More Voices campaign is not to provide solutions but to stimulate conversation and discussions about national and local government decisions which seem to not be transparent or accountable.

More Voices campaign  ̶  Rotary guinea pigs

Lisa Woods is a social justice advocate who became the Advocacy and Policy Manager for Amnesty International earlier this year. This week she spoke about the More Voices campaign, wanting feedback from the club. When we asked what feedback other groups had given, Lisa explained that the campaign had only just started and we were the guinea pigs.

Amnesty International is a non-partisan organisation which campaigns on human rights. Their concern is that the same problems seem to crop up decade after decade. Decisions to improve laws are rushed with people feeling excluded with ‘top-down’ decisions. A system is needed where everyone can have a meaningful contribution.

The More Voices campaign is not to provide solutions but to stimulate conversation and discussions about national and local government decisions which seem to not be transparent or accountable. Grass roots information is the heart of how Amnesty International makes decisions. The campaign will use this information to try and ensure people do not feel excluded from future decisions being made.

Following their presentation, Sarah Morris invited any members who attended last week to share their views about this important issue.  For more information about the campaign, please see: More Voices
