Well deserved accolade for Bev Lawton

Last weekend Wahine Māori health practitioner Professor Bev Lawton (Ngāti Porou) NZOM, from Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington, has been recognised with a prestigious award named after esteemed Māori cancer researcher Dr Maarire Goodall. Click below to read all about it.

Club Survey
Brent Gerrard is currently developing our Club Survey. When it sent to you please take the time to fill this out. We will be discussing the findings at our Club Forum on 20 November, following the AGM. It is important to me that everyone contributes their opinion, not only to garner the health of the club, but also so each of us feels included and listened to.

Grand Night out
The Projects Committee are finalising the details for our Grant Night Out. How fantastic that they have enlisted 20 restaurants to participate, given the constraining times the hospitality sector is experiencing. Well done team.

Malaghan Institute of Medical Research update

If you would like to know more about the wonderful work of the Malaghan scientists join us for an update on Thursday 17 October at Prefab Hall, 14 Jessie Street. Refreshments from 5pm, starting at 5.30-7pm.

Golf fund raiser for the Malaghan

Come and join us on Friday 22 November at the Royal Wellington Golf Club for a Charity Golf day. Teams of 4 playing ambrose with lots of food and drink around the course. Lunch before tee off at 12.30. Dinner and prizes after the event. To register contact Jane Paterson janejpaterson@gmail.com. It would be great to continue members support of the Malaghan Institute.

Xmas Puddings

I have received notification from Phil Oliver of the Karori Club about Rotary Christmas Puddings. They cost $17 and the suggestion is to sell them for $25. Would someone be able to coordinate the purchase of these for our club? Let me know if you can do this and I will send you the information.

Refugee pantry supplies

Club members have again outdone themselves in providing pantry supplies for refugees settling in Wellington. The photo below shows all the wonderful supplies provided. We will be collecting again in the new year. Thanks, Marc Rands, RCPN service committee

Thank you collectors

Thank you to everyone who gave thier time on Saturday to collect for the Children's Health care services and Hospital Te Wao Nui. The Wellington Hospitals Foundation is extremely grateful.

David Downs- cancer survivor and Ambassador for the Malaghan Institute

Attendees at this morning’s RCPN meeting were privileged to receive an inspirational talk from David Downs. Amongst a significant number of other activities, David is a cancer survivor, patient advocate and ambassador for the Malaghan Institute. It was largely the cancer journey and science work being done that he concentrated on in this talk.
