A ‘merrie time’ was had by all at our Christmas Party last Wednesday evening! It was lovely to also see partners, friends and former members there. Many more thanks to Philippa, and Louise, Heather and
Peter, for organising it all.
We were delighted to have DG Marilyn Stevens join us, with a special role of presenting us with a Banner for being ‘No 1 Club in the District in per capita Annual Fund giving to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International 2021-2022’. In her accompanying letter and citation she went on to say: “What a great achievement. Globally there is still a lot of work to be done but the world is clearly a better place already for having received generous contributions such as yours.” Well done to all for your
contributions.
Tama Porter provided background music for the first 45 minutes of the Party, prior to Dinner. A student from Kāpiti College, Tama was selected from this year’s SGCNZ Festivals and National Shakespeare Schools Production week, to go to the Globe next year as a member of SGCNZ Young Shakespeare Company. Tama asked me to pass on his thanks to those who put a koha in his kete towards the trip.
I was pleased to acknowledge the ‘lead personnel’ of the various activities and causes Port Nicholson Rotary regularly undertakes and supports – just over 30 of them! Very impressive and providing a range from which people can choose to be involved – or not, as they wish.
The number of items filling the bags for the Mums at the House of Grace also demonstrated the
generosity of so many of the Club. Thank you, Rick, for delivering them.
A reminder that this week’s Breakfast is the of the last for 2022. Many have cited this year as being the hardest since the pandemic began early 2020. Whether it was owing to long or short Covid, disrupted travel plans and deliveries, or other extenuating circumstances, it has not been easy. However, the borders opening half way through this year, and freedom generally, has facilitated many to meet up with family and friends. Here’s hoping this will continue over the Festive season. Wishing all a lovely time over Christmas and the holidays.
I look forward to the sharing of them at our first, informal Breakfast at The Prefab in Jessie Street on Wednesday 18 January. It will be on a ‘pay-your-own-way’ basis, but expect a menu of options
beforehand so that they can ensure they have right amounts of food required on hand…or plates!
Finally, thank you Hayley for producing the Bulletin each week – and bringing our youngest member regularly to Meetings, as well as adeptly taking on various other tasks.
