Last week, 20 Rotarians and partners joined Bill on a tour of the new and vastly improved Children's Hospital. All accounts of the visit were positive - the fact Doctors and Nurses were consulted in the design process will make a huge difference to the quality of care they are able to provide, and the resources and services available to the young people who need to be admitted.
~ This week's speaker ~
Nick Goodall
Nick Goodall is head of research at Corelogic, which means he beyond what you hear in the media and looks at the real things happening in the property market. This includes a fresh view on some of the public data as well as in-depth analysis of CoreLogic’s own unique datasets (including a refreshed Vulnerability Index) to provide a view you will never have seen before.
It will be an interesting presentation this week, considering the ups and downs of the housing market recently!

On October 27, we will be hosting the annual Bacon Butties for Polio stand at the Wellington Railway Station. We would love your help, either making butties, or encouraging donations from passers by. Anyone and everyone is welcome to support the cause.
We welcomed the very comprehensive presentation on “Creating Tomorrow” at our last Meeting from DGE Wayne Gordon. We have heard about this previously, but Wayne provided more detail. It is focusing on piloting some significant change. There are options to rationalise the structure and governance of Rotary within the New Zealand/Australia and Pacific Islands region. This pilot may result in reducing or even eliminating Districts in the region and exploring ways to be more efficient and effective in serving our community here in Wellington. David and Howard are happy to answer questions about this at our next meeting, as the following week, we will be voting to approve this pilot. All Rotarians and Rotaractors across the region will be asked to approve this pilot in September.
We look forward to hearing about The Train Trip and its benefit to the eradication of Polio funds. Thank you for organising, Joy.
…also to Bill, for facilitating the Children’s Hospital Tour. I believe there will be another chance for those of us who could not go last weekend. Details soon.…and to Louise for organising Lunch at the Hudson.
Lots of collecting and other activities on the go! Join in with what you wish and can do.

Lou's Lovely Long Lunchers!
Another lovely long lunch was held at the Hudson this week.
A very jovial group met at lunchtime on Friday and enjoyed each others company, solving the problems of the world over some good kai and a couple of sneaky beverages.
Thanks Lou for organising another enjoyable get together, and for coming out of your Covid bubble to ensure everything went swimmingly!!
We eagerly anticipate our next get together at the Fork and Brewer.
Rotary has served us well over the last hundred years. We're now looking to how we can create a sustainable future.
We need help to ensure that Rotary thrives in our region. It may be that the regionalisation pilot we have been invited to participate in is the answer being searched for.
DG-Elect Wayne Gordon spoke to the club on 31 August about this pilot. The video he presented, and a website for more info is in David Barnes' report.
Richie Hill from the Paper Street Tree company spoke to the club on 24 August about the need for collaboration between local councils, businesses and the community to get good solutions to issues like climate change.
