Thank you everyone for your great response to the clubs arrears. In one week it has reduced from $2,019 to  $495 and it would be good to reduce it further..
Just confirming the breakfast prices are -
  • $27.50 for breakfast
  • $13.50 for no breakfast (tea and coffee only)

Tracy is Editor of Sunday Star-Times, Sunday News and Stuff Sundays.
She is an award winning columnist and journalist, which includes being political columnist of the year, political feature writer of the year and investigative news reporter.
 
Her topic will be, "The future of regional journalism."

Speaker and partnership event
We are rekindling our relationship with Plimmerton Rotary.  In past years we visited one anothers' clubs and are keen to recommence this custom.  They recently had a visit from our Club members encouraging them to join the 'Lifting the Lid;' programme.  
Date: Tuesday 10 Sept
Time: 6 for 6.30 pm start
Speaker: Michael Quigg 
(6 years on the Parole Board and 10 years chairing the Law Society Committee)
Venue:  Mana Cruising, Pascoe Ave, Mana.
Cost: $30 - with a cash bar

                      In case you missed it...

Neil Thornton- NZ Comedy
Neil Thornton of the NZ Comedy School spoke to us today.  Neil came to NZ in 2014 on honeymoon and stayed before this he started his adult life as a teacher and at 39 years old took a stand up comedy class trying to get people to laugh in New York. Turns out that being a teacher and knowing how to write are great prerequistes for being a comedian.  Neil did wonder however if he could teach stand up after being asked to take classes and ten people showed up; 6 of the ten are still doing stand up comedy.  The comedy school is now Neil's full time role.

Everyone eats- Jack Rainey
Our speaker this week, Jack Rainey from the Restaurant Everybody Eats, began by talking a little about our food system. The dichotomy is that New Zealand produces more food than our population can consume yet one in five New Zealanders face food insecurity every day.  Too much of the food we produce is wasted and goes to landfill and its degradation creates greenhouse gas and harms the planet.
