The Club was presented today with a talk on hearing loss and industry by Tracy Curtis – COO of Ears Hearing Limited.
Tracy’s background was as a real estate agent in America before ending up in NZ to assist (from a business angle) her audiologist sister.
Numerous stats were provided by Tracy on how ear damage was occurring and where it could be prevented. Much of her company work is involved with on-site audit/consulting/prevention and samples of some ear prevention equipment was able to be played with on the tables. It was emphasised several times that completely noise blocking ear prevention equipment can be dangerous e.g. in the case of where colleagues need to warn of other imminent hazards.
