Jacqui Jayo – Bellyful Wellington West Chairity
Marc Rands
The club listened to a lively presentation from Jacqui Jayo about how she set up Bellyful Wellington.
After hearing about Bellyful Auckland on Good Sorts on TVNZ 1, and the provision of meals and connection to whānau with babies or children under 12. There were now 25/6 branches nationwide, all run by volunteers. In Karori, Jacqui’s team meet once a month to cook 140 comfort meals, such as macaroni cheese, that toddlers will eat. A farming charity called “Meat the need” provides the meat for the meals nationwide, and Bellyful fundraises for the rest of the meal costs, along with donations from supermarkets, bakeries, and home baking from volunteers! Last year the local Lions rugby team played with the Bellyful logo on their shirts thanks to a generous corporate sponsor.
