With summer on the way it must be time for a walk. Where: Pukerua Bay to Paekākāriki Escarpment Track. Meet at Pukerua Bay Train Station. When: Sunday 27 November 2022, leaving 10:00 am What we are in for: With Medium grade/effort, experience this stunning walk with its rewarding views. There are some extended ascending flights of steps (required to get said view), and the track is narrow in places with steep drop-offs (required to promote adrenalin). A rough section of track leads walkers on a brief but steep bypass up and beyond a section of the original track which is being repaired. A rope helps walkers over this section. Probably one to bypass if vertigo is an issue. Please call Ross (021 467737) if doubt exists. Weather permitting we will set off from Pukerua Bay Railway Station at 10.00 am - there is a scheduled train departing WLG at 0914 getting to Pukerua Bay at 0950 though check for alerts as these services can change at short notice. Parking is available at Pukerua Bay Train Station if you choose to come by car. We will enjoy one of the cafes at Paekakariki before returning to Pukerua Bay by train (which depart every 30 mins). RSVP no later than Friday night 25 November 2022 If coming please include your mobile number with the registration. Also please put next of kin/phone a friend name and contact number in the comments box. We need this in the unlikely event of an incident arising. Ensure you are prepared for changes in the weather so rain jacket and warm layers are essential. Bring water as there is none on the track. Check out the links below for more information on the track and some of its history: Note that dogs are NOT allowed on this track. https://www.wellingtonregionaltrails.com/guides/escarpment-track-a-slice-of-stunning-windswept-coastline/ https://www.wellingtonregionaltrails.com/trails/escarpment-track/

It's finally here - our last meeting of the year - roll on 2023 Dear all This week will be Bubbles and Strawberries and our final speaker... Lisa Jones Chair of Affordable Sports for Greater Wellington Five sports codes came together naming themselves Affordable Sports for Greater Wellington, and lobbied to reduce facility fees and demanding a review to lower the cost of playing sport in the region. Campaign chair Lisa Jones will talk to us about how a large portion of players’ subscriptions currently go to council, more than in most other parts of the country. Her group believes that high costs affect participation in sport.
Make this one a must attend meeting. Come along listen to what Lisa has to say, as I am sure this has an impact on your children or grandchildren and ... Wish all your friends a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Looking forward to seeing you all there. Kind regards Louise Notes for the coming weeks meeting:

At last weeks meeting I proposed the Perambulators do the Patuna Chasm walk next year.
This walk is on private property and goes through an amazing river chasm. The property is 20 minutes out of Martinborough and the walk takes 3 hours. For a good part of the walk you are walking through the river.
Look at the link below for further details.
https://www.patunafarm.co.nz/#chasmwalks
The cost to do the walk is $42 per person and it needs to be booked well in advance.
I am proposing that we look at either Sunday 26 February or Sunday 12 March. Currently there is availability on both dates for a group of 20 people. The 26 February date would require a start time of 9.30am, however the 12 March date would allow a later starting time of 10.30am.
As bookings are required to be made online with payment in advance, I require a firm commitment from you if you want to go.
The first option for 26 February would require participants to leave Wellington no later than 7.30am to be ready to start the trip from Patuna Farm at 9.30am. Google maps shows it as 97.7km from Wellington Railway Station with a travel time of 1 hour 31 minutes.
If you would like to join us in February please register yourself and any guests. I will do the registrations with Patuna Farms in bulk.. Registration will commit you to payment of $42 per person and in the event of cancellation will be subject to the rules set out on the Patuna Chasm site.
If you cannot make 26 February and/or prefer 12 March please advise in the comments section. If there is enough interest we may be able to organise another event.
As the current availability may change quickly I require responses no later than 7pm Wednesday 30 November.
