Perambulators Walk – Trelissick Park

An easier one for a change

Sunday May 26 2024 9-11.30am

It’s been a while since our last perambulation where we enjoyed the uniqueness of the unspoilt beauty of Patuna Chasm in mid-March, and the rigours of Nydia Bay the month before are behind us.
This month I have a near city walk which I have titled: 3 bush walks and a bit of street walking in between, which will end up at a well known coffee shop.

Meet at 9am near the bottom of Kaiwharawhara Road / Ngaio Gorge Road opposite NZ / Courier Post.

We will walk up Trelissick Park which includes a few points of historic interest. Emerging at the top of Ngaio Gorge we then have 10 minutes of street walking and descend part way down Old Porirua Road and then climb up the Piwakawaka Track and emerge at the Odell Reserve. Another quick street walk and we will descend to Kaiwharawhara Park via a newly open track down the bush lined ridge. A quick stroll along Hutt Road will bring us to La Cloche for coffee and cakes and the cars are then a few minutes’ walk away from there.

All in all the walk should take around 2.5 hours and the coffee as long as you like.

If you haven’t walked Trelissick Park it is one of the hidden gems of Wellington and runs alongside the Kaiwharawhara Stream which starts at the top of the Zealandia Sanctury and is a nice natural bush environment.

Cheers Rick
