Apologies for the date clash

We need to move it  from 7 to 14 June 2026

Details amended below :)

Perambulation - Te Ara Tupua

The Petone to Nga Uranga walkway

After a good chat, Jo and I thought a walk along the new walkway - Te Ara Tupua and then lunch at Gear Street Union Petone, might be a lovely idea. It is a flat easy walk and the scenery is great.

Our plan is for us all to meet at Nga Uranga (after doing the walkway we both noted the spelling for Ngauranga) at 10am on Sunday 14 June. It is easy to access by train (Hutt line) or by bus from the city. There is also limited parking at Nga Uranga.

The plan would be to walk to Petone - noting the views and information on the way and then walk to Gear Street Union for lunch. Those who wish to can walk back to Nga Uranga from Petone, or we can catch a train either to Nga Uranga or into Wellington.

NZ Transport Waka Kotahi have published the following tips for using the pathway:

• The path has 2 sides: one for pedestrians, and one for people cycling. The widths of the sides vary but generally the pedestrian space is about 1.8 metres wide, and the cycling space is about 3.5 metres wide.
• If you’re in a group, leave space around you so people can pass you – it's important to be courteous and share with care.
• If you’re cycling or using other types of wheels, slow down around the rest area and in path’s shared areas, which includes the bridge.
You’re welcome to bring your dog friend along, but you’ll need to keep them on their lead.
Please register your and friends or family by Friday 12 June 7am so I can let Gear Street Union know how many are coming.

Hopefully see loads of Rotarians there.
