Every so often, we hold a club Forum, for club members only. This is our space to raise and discuss areas of concern or celebration - with no real agenda, but to have an open and frank discussion, allowing us to move forward as a more cohesive and understanding club.
The results of our recent survey will also be briefly discussed.
Please come along with anything you wish to share with Club members in an attentive and supportive forum

Give Every Child A Future
Rotaract's trip to Somes Island went yesterday, and what a stunner of a day they had! If you would still like to offer a donation to Rotary's Give Every Child a Future, you can do so here
Time to get festive!
The “Original Rotary Christmas Pudding” (in a tin) use only the best fruit, spices and wholesome ingredients to a time-proven recipe that everyone loves year after year. Each pudding bought for $23 includes a $6 donation to Rotary projects and community projects in our area.
As you prepare for Christmas, please consider a gift for the young women at The House of Grace. Gift vouchers (e.g. for Kmart, Farmers, New World, Countdown, petrol), non perishable food items for hampers, and stocking fillers like lip balm, nail polish, scrunchies, hair clips, sun block, small cute stationery items will be most appreciated.
Future Plans For Wellington's Health System panel discussion
Dr Bryan Betty, John Tait, Claire Jennings, and Dr Jeff Lowe will form a panel discussing the challenges that we are facing at the present time in accessing good health care, and in the coming years, unless the newly released national healthcare system resolves these.All are welcome to attend on
Monday 14 November at the Karori Baptist Church.
End Polio Now
fundraising
We have some Rotary branded aprons for sale at $30, all funds raised going to End Polio Now.
Peter still has few cases of wine left, selling at $90 for 6 bottles; including a contribution of $15 to End Polio.
We are looking to have approximately $2,000 to go to End Polio Now!
With Dr Swee Tan presenting on the great discoveries he and his team are also making in terms of medical research, especially cancer, visits to the Gilles Institute (where Dr Swee Tan is based), and the Malaghan Institute are available; we will arrange visits in due course.
Thank you to all who completed the Club survey - our ‘health check’. Special thanks to Hayley for collating and presenting this information. This week, it will be beneficial to have as many as possible at our Breakfast Meeting to discuss the results and continue to improve the Club’s modus operandi in various ways.
It was agreed by the Board that the last ‘Buy the Box’ session of the month will be in aid of the Wellington City Mission. They are preferring cash (via the Club) rather than goods, so they can fill gaps on their shelves. This obviates us having to take food items to our Meetings and for Jeff Lee to deliver them. Much appreciation to Jeff and others who have done this in the past. As Lindsay Chitty told us, he is placing slips on the tables for anyone Buying the Box to fill in the amount and mode of payment so that he can reconcile them.
The presentations to the 3 Auction designated recipients – Malaghan Institute, Wellington Children’s Hospital and Women’s Homeless Trust will be made on 16 November. Thanks so much to the team and to Peter for continuing to raise funds through the sale of his wine.
Time to order those Christmas puddings, which Hayley has kindly offered to coordinate. See the details in the Bulletin, noting that our Club receives $6 per sale.

Dr Swee Tan spoke to the club on 2 November about The Gillies McIndoe Research Institute's ground-breaking research relating to strawberry birthmark, and the potentially enormous implications for the treatment of other tumours, including cancer.
Enhancing the body’s natural immune system to fight diseases such as cancer, is one of the aims of research being conducted at the Malaghan Institute, Club members learned this week.
