President
David Shackleton

A big thank you to Richard for running a vibrant and participative session on attracting new members. We have received many new ideas and leads from the session and Richard will get back to us in a months time on the progress. Building membership is one of our key objectives for 2019/20 and will require us all to support this goal.

One of the issues to come out of Richards research is that new members and, in fact, regular members alike want to know “what is the role of our Board members, what are their responsibilities, goals etc?” I certainly remember prior to joining the Board I was uncertain as to what the Board actually do, their scope and responsibilities.

Well, we are going to address this. Thanks to an idea by Peter, at the next meeting and subsequent meetings, each of the Board will spend 5 minutes explaining their roles, goals and responsibilities. Mike Selvadurai will start the process and explain the very key role of Director of Administration/Secretary.

On a different subject I encourage each of you to invite a family member to one of our Rotary events. Whether it be a meeting, social or fund raising activity. We already do a fairly good job of this but by involving our spouse or partner in our activities they get to learn of the great work we all do and what Rotary is about.

Finally, it was great to have Alan back with us and to have Gloria join us. We are working on Gloria’s transfer and it shouldn’t be long before she is a full time as a member of the Club.

Have a great week, yours in Rotary

David
