Impromtu speakers
A huge thank you to Brad, Brent and Jane this week who with 10 minutes notice became our speakers on Wednesday morning. Everyone agreed it was an excellent meeting where we learnt something new. We are very lucky to have a club full of inspiring members. See below for the details.
Notification of Club forum and Trust proposal
There will be a club forum on May 13th. As part of the meeting the LTL team will be presenting the Lifting the Lid Trust proposal. This is the 4 weeks notice.
New members
We inducted two new members this week which is an absolute treat for the Club. Simon Warbuton and Aparna Dubey - we warming weclome you to our club and look forward to seeing you on Wednesday mornings. Simon is joining the Community Services Committee and Aparna the Projects committee.
Rotary and our partners commemorate World Immunization Week, 24-30 April every year, to raise awareness of the importance of vaccination and highlight the success of our polio eradication efforts.
World Immunization Week is quickly approaching! How would you like our club to observe this important public health event?
Would you like to get more involved in our club?
We have the following opportunities available.
Goal setters Committee
This is our signature event that has been running for 35 years. Get involved with the selection process and behind the scenes event management. Time commitment- an average of 1-2 hours a week- November to March, with no work required over the xmas break.
Roster
A great way to get to know the members of the club. Organise the roster for the weekly meetings. This ensures the meetings are well run and everyone has the opportunity to take part. Time commitment-15-20 minutes a week.
Bulletin
We would like to broaden the team of editors that produce the bulletin to 3 -4 people members. This is excellent opportunity to understand the club. Time commitment- 2 hours every 3 or 4 weeks.
Welfare officers
Thank you to Howard and Andre who are our welfare officers. If members are away from rotary for 3 weeks or more (and have not put in a leave of absence) they are contacted by Howard or Andre. We know everyone one gets busy with work and life commitments, but we also want to enure if members are unwell we are keeping in touch. Thank you to you both for doing this important role.

When the speaker doesn't turn up ….. It was a great opportunity to hear from three of our members.
Brad shared his thoughts on how he and his wife predicted that change was coming to the USA and they made the decision almost twenty years ago to leave. He shared how much he appreciates being a New Zealander and living in Aotearoa.
Brent gave us an update on his many many commitments as incoming District Governor. He also provided insights on some of the District structural changes/ mergers we can expect in the near future.
And Jane gave us an excellent update on Lifting the Lid. As the project builds momentum it is great having Jane's invaluable experience on the Team.
Social events Rotary Club of Port Nic has a variety of social events you are very welcome to join.
Born in Northern Ireland and now living in New Zealand, Gráinne Moss captured the attention of the world in 1987, becoming the first Irish woman to swim the English Channel, at just 17 years of age. Moss’s story is one of resilience, endurance, and achievement, both as a swimmer and in public life.
