To celebrate the Club's 35th Anniversary this weeks speaker is

Jean Phipps

Jean was the first woman to join Port Nicholson Rotary around 1990. She was the President in the 1994-1995 year and was made a Paul Harris Fellow in 2002. She was the chairperson of the District Scholarships committee during the early 2000s and was responsible for nominating the first Peace Scholar from our Club, Greg Mitchell.

We know Jean will have a great deal to share with us about our Club and its history.

I am writing this from Nelson where I am for my granddaughter's 2nd birthday.

Yesterday I visited the Whakatu Rotary club where Bev Wells is a member. She sends her best wishes to everyone. Their president may join us on Wednesday as he will be working in Wellington.

Monday night was such a success. Bill and his team deserve all the plaudits they have already had and more.

It was great to have Bob and Elaine with us on Wednesday and hear him speak about his Rotary using Obama's phrase, "the audacity of hope". I look forward to hearing from Jean Phipps this week, our first woman member, and first female president.

To everyone who is away at present, I hope you are safe and well.

Club Carbon Calculator Survey results

Thank you to everyone who took part in the Club's carbon calculator survey last month. Here are some of the results of our recent club survey to calculate our club's emissions:

Using the carbon calculator developed by the Rotary Club of Wellington, our results work out at around 7 tonnes CO2 -e over the year. In June we planted 1000 native trees with the Friends of Tawa bush, which we calculate will offset 40 tonnes CO2-e over 10 years, so we will see what the comparable figures look like next year!

Bob Moffatt Speaker Report

Bob Moffat spoke in celebration of the Port Nicholson 35^th anniversary. Bob is a Charter member of Port Nicholson and was made an Honorary member of the Club in 2016 after being a member for 27 years. Bob was President in the 1992 - 1993 year and was Chairman of the committee which ran the District Conference in the year Howard Tong was District Governor. Bob based his speech title on words from Barack Obama - Rotary: “The Audacity of Hope”.
