This week's speaker
Jim Lynch

Jim Lynch is a New Zealand cartoonist and conservationist. He was the President of the Wellington Branch of Forest and Bird, and is the founder of Zealandia.

In 2022, he was commissioned by Wellington Regional Council to produce a feasibility study of establishing a wildlife sanctuary in the Wainuiomata Water Collection Area.  The name given to the proposed sanctuary is Puketaha, and Jim will be speaking to our club about it this week.

Tree Planting in Tawa

 The Rotary Club of Port Nicholson has teamed up with The Friends of Tawa Bush Reserves to plant trees at the  on Sunday June 12th at 1pm. For more info, click here. If you would like to take part, please contact Lisa King

Auction Prizes wanted

This year's beneficiaries of our Charity Auction will be the Wellington Children's Hospital, The Malaghan Institute, and Wellington Homeless Women's Trust. If you have ideas or contacts who may donate prizes for the Auction, please let the subcommittee know.

Kia Ora, I joined Rotary in 2022 serving in the Projects Committee. I work in Real Estate specialising in the sale of property, new-builds and property subdivisions. BCA in Accounting & Commercial Law from Victoria University of Wellington and have lived in Wadestown for the past 10 years.

Rotary International update
 
Rotary’s appeal for funds to address the humanitarian situation in and around Ukraine has been very successful. More than US$14.4millionin contributions were received in March and April, with funds now being used to provide people with essential items such as water, food, shelter, medicine, and clothing.
 
Global Grant Trends: Here is a chart that illustrates the strong growth in global grants approved by the Foundation over the last five years. Support for all Areas of Focus has grown but, not surprisingly, fighting disease and promoting peace grew very strongly last year.
