President's Message

In recent months I have been hearing from an increasing number of members that Monday meetings are not suiting a lot of you. At the time we voted on this last year, there was more support for Mondays than Fridays and the hotel was less likely to be able to reliably provide a venue on Fridays as it could on Mondays.

 

Since then, our attendances at weekly meetings have declined and sadly we have lost some members because of the change. Also, the situation is changing for the hospitality sector in Wellington. The hotel hasn’t always been able to provide a room for us and just this week, we have been advised that the InterContinental does not have any availability for us throughout each Monday in November.

 

We are making immediate short-term arrangements to cover this period and to ensure we can accommodate the guest speakers booked for Mondays during November, but this has expedited our intention to seek fresh feedback from you all so that we can do our best to rectify the situation from January 2019 onwards.

 

The Board discussed this on Tuesday and in early-mid November once David is back, I will be circulating some alternative options for you to indicate your preference, principally to move away from Mondays and to consider venue options available to us.
