A stimulating club forum

Thank you everyone for a very positive Club Forum and Special General Meeting on Wednesday. It was agreed that the annual subscription would be increased to $290 commencing for the 2025 – 2026 year. Please see below for report on the meeting. Many thanks Howard for writing this up.

Wonderful response to Mary Potter Hospice collection

On Thursday 15th 13 club members and their partners graciously volunteered to help collect for the Mary Potter Hospice Appeal. We were scheduled from 7am and 6pm in one hour shifts at New World Chaffers.

The Mary Potter Appeal is one of our most popular volunteering activities. Within 45 minutes of sending out the request we had 80% of the spots filled. A big thank you goes to all who generously volunteered their time for this most important cause. We are most appreciative of everyone’s efforts and this event underscores what a great club we belong to.

Board Meeting 15 th May update
The following items may be of interest to you-

Rotary Cans for a Cause 9 – 16 June. The Community Services Committee will lead this Combined Districts of New Zealand initiative.
The Board agreed that we would move to a programme called ‘Stripe’ this will make things so much easier for any payments. Brent will be speaking to us about this soon.
Changeover is being held on 25 June at our morning meeting. Invitations will come soon.
The next Business Breakfast is on 30 July with the new Ombudsman, John Allen, speaking. We agreed that the cost for this per person would be $35 with surplus funds going to Lifting the Lid and the Birdwood Walkway Project. This means that some of the benefit goes into the Karori area, given that they are co-hosts for the breakfast.
There are still some people who are in arrears with their breakfast payments. Please attend to this as soon as possible if one of the people is you. Thank you.

Port Nic rotary evening meetings once a month

From July we are going to trial having a rotary meeting one Wednesday evening a month.

The meetings will be held at the Wellington Club
They will be the 4th Wednesday in July, August and September
The cost will remain the same as the breakfast meetings.
The format will be similar to the breakfast meetings
A cash bar will be available

We look forward to your support and meeting your friends, family and colleagues who are interested in our Rotary meetings, but not so keen at the 7am start.

Flashback Friday in the sun

Another lovely flashback Friday lunch in the sun- this time at Heyday. A very enjoyable way to start the weekend. Many thanks Lou for organising these monthly social events for the club.

Port Nic Rotary Predator Free team hard at work

The predator free team continue to do a great job. Here is a photo of the 'largest rat ever' they caught recently. Thank you to David, Rick, Paula, Steve, Lindsay, Jeff, Dawn, Jenny, Howard, Brent, Jo, Noel, Ross, Peter, Denis and Marc for getting down in the weeds to keep our waterfront predator free.

Club Forum

This week was a meeting amongst members to discuss matters concerning the Club. The discussion was well led by President Jo who provided each table with topics for discussion- communication, the bulletin, evening meetings trial as well as the fee increase.
