Firstly, thank you to everyone who has already volunteered to help us. We still have a few spaces available for the shifts and need your help.
The times we require are:
6am to 7am
7am to 8am
8am to 9am
10am to 11am

We need volunteers to help with setting up the gazebo, BBQing bacon and onions, collecting donations (shaking buckets), serving the butties and dismantling the gazebo.
If you can help us for the morning, please register either through Club Runner or let me know directly.
Many thanks in advance for your help and support for this very worthy and fun cause.

Speaker - Thapi Makgabutlane

Meterologist for the Met Service

Thapi was an operational meteorologist in South Africa and now is now working for the Met Service in Aotearoa, New Zealand.

She has a passion for weather communication and education. She states that she is moving more and more into the climate change space and wanting people to work together to find solutions for this pressing crisis.

Her topic is "Wellington Weather", which is always highly contentious and should provoke some great questions!

I would like to thank club members for their generosity in providing pantry supplies for incoming refugees this month. Club members were very generous and I dropped off the supplies at the Anglican Center on Wednesday, and took a photo of all the supplies.

Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) 2024

Applicants are sort from suitable young people (18-24 years) for the Rotary Youth Leadership Award in the latter half of January 2024.

RYLA is a five-day intensive, high energy, challenging, residential programme to develop young
leaders from District 9940.

Trails Wellington - Matt Farrar

Matt Farrar and a group of like-minded businesspeople, calling themselves Trails Wellington, who love mountain bike riding, (including members of the Drury family) approached the council about generating an asset for the city making use of the town belt - the idea is to create a commuter biking network off road.

The future looks good!

Young Rat Trappers hard at work

Rick's grandchildren Amy and Brad from Christchurch who were in Wellington for a little of the school holidays helping him with rat trapping on last week. They had fun and it meant Rick could just supervise.
