To all our Port Nicholson Club Members - Happy 2026.

We will welcome in our Rotary year with an informal breakfast at L'Affaire @ 27 College Street on January 28.

No speaker - just an opportunity to enjoy catching up.

Invites were sent out on Friday and included a menu and request to

pre-order your breakfast.

President Nicole

Happy new year.

I hope you have had a good summer break and enjoyed the festive session. Thank you to everyone who did their duties and covered for me while I was away in December experiencing a European winter. We had a lovely Christmas in the UK with Mark’s family for the first time in 30 years which was very special. While we did not have snow on Christmas Day we did have blue skies and sunshine and a mighty 3 degrees high.

It was wonderful to see Dorothy Spotwood, Bev Lawton and Rosemary Dixon in the 2026 New Years Honours List acknowledged for their achievements and what they have contributed to Wellington and New Zealand. We have passed on our heartfelt congratulations to them.

The RYLA Programme is currently underway and our candidate is Emma Clouston who is well known to our Club as one of the regular serving staff at the Wellington Club. Emma will speak to our Club on her return.

I would like to say a special thank you to Jo Douglas who has organised all the steps for the Port Nicholson Rotary club to be re-registered. We really appreciate Jo’s efficiency in following through everything that was required.

Thank you also to David Barnes and everyone who helped out at the car parking in early January.  The team collected $525 which is our highest takings on recent record. This has now been put into our Trust account.

We have our first casual meeting on January 28th at L’Affaire which I looking forward to catching up with everyone.

Enjoy the Wellington Anniversary weekend.

Nicole
