We have reason to celebrate and pat each other on our backs!
Rotary Port Nicholson has earned the Rotary Citation, the most significant award a Rotary club can achieve, for 2019-2020. During a year that was challenging, Port Nic demonstrated a commitment to achieve its goals, which ultimately helps strengthen Rotary and shape our future. We did this by increasing membership, developing sustainable service projects, community services, building awareness of Rotary in the community and donating to Rotary Foundation. We were one of only three clubs in District 9940 that achieved a citation. Thank you to David Shackleton for leading us through the year and the individual and collective commitment and support of members in meeting the goals set for the year. This award is in recognition of your efforts.
Our breakfast meeting on Wednesday 14 October will be dedicated to engaging with you to grow our membership and to give you an opportunity to better understand what the various committees do, their respective goals for the year, what they have achieved to date and the plans for the rest of the year. It is also an opportunity for you to express views on projects and activities that you feel the various committees can get involved in and/or support and for those who are not presently assigned to a committee to volunteer to participate in one.
Your involvement and engagement is what drives Port Nic and its path forward. I urge you to come along and make it a meaningful and fun breakfast meeting.
Our informal breakfast at Leuven on 5 October was a successful one with close to 30 in attendance.
Thank you, David, for organizing it. Leuven is a strong supporter of Rotary and they have always treated us well with their hospitality, service and food. We will build on that relationship.
Don’t forget Polio ‘Ride the Train’ on Friday 23rd October to commemorate Polio Day on 24th October. Please refer to the email I sent on 8 October for the train schedules. We will be hosting the traditional bacon buttie gazebo at the Railway Station during the morning. Thank you to those who have signed up to man the BBQ’s and also promote Rotary. Don’t forget your Polio T-shirts. If you don’t have one please contact David Shackleton ASAP
We are fast approaching D-Day for the casino fun night on 31 October to raise funds for the House of Grace. Much work is underway in the background (Rick and Darryl in particular) but its success depends on you coming along and also promoting it with your friends and family. If you have not registered and paid up, please do so!
