Collecting for Dementia Wellington

Thank you everyone who collected for Dementia Wellington on Saturday at Chaffers New World  (and thank you Tony for organising an indoor venue for us). The generosity of people was heart warming. More people donated than I have experienced before. It is obviously a cause that touches a significant part of the community.

Lifting the lid

Thank you to the Lifting the Lid team for presenting their annual plan and acknowledging the significant achievements they have made in just three years. It is inspiring what you have done and the financial commitments you are sourcing to keep the programme delivering. I am really looking forward to hearing from Deb Mills of Newlands College about the impact the programme is having on the young people.

Grand night out

Looking forward to our grand night out next Wednesday (Oct 15th), the major fund raiser for lifting the lid. It was such a fun evening last year and I am sure the Projects Team have organised this year to be same or better. Thank you team.

Have a great week. Nicole

If you cant make the evening this Saturday please feel free to make a donation for a good cause.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT….
Nicholas Golledge – Professor of Glaciology, Victoria University

Nicholas Zoomed into the club meeting from the Wairarapa and gave a presentation on global sea level rise and socioeconomic impacts for New Zealand. Nicholas highlighted the drivers of sea level change from melting glaciers, thermal expansion of the water itself, and the fact that Wellington is actually sinking ½ cm per year!
