3 July, 2022

Welcome to a New Rotary Year!

We've been celebrating our friends

Congratulations to Louise and Darryl who received Keyway awards this week
for their massively significant, yet often unnoticed acts of service that contribute
to our Club's day to day functionality and success.

Additionally, an Honorary membership was awarded to Keith.

Congratulations. We are so pleased to have your contributions recognised.
This week's speaker
Claire Achmad -  Shelterbox CEO
ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity that hand delivers aid to families affected by conflict and natural disaster.  Claire is an international children’s rights law and policy specialist and child rights advocate, and holds a PhD in international children’s rights law.  Claire has held roles internationally across government, intergovernmental organisations, and non-government organisations. In 2010 she took up a Rotary Global Grant Scholarship, studying for an Advanced Masters in Public International Law specialising in Peace, Justice and Development.

She is coming to speak to our club about The power of the Shelterbox and their impact in Ukraine

Please ensure your registration includes any special guests you are bringing, or any meal requirements for the Wellington Club's Chefs.

If the Chefs don't know what you want, they cannot be expected to make it for you....

Goal Setter Awards 2022

Thursday 11th August

Guest speaker Paula Tesoriero MNZM - New Zealand’s Disability Rights Commissioner

On Thursday 11th August the Rotary Club of Port Nicholson is hosting  Paula Tesoriero, New Zealand’s Disability Rights Commissioner at a breakfast meeting in the Banquet Hall at Parliament beginning at 7.00am.

Paula is a Paralympian cycling gold medallist, was Chef de Mission of the  NZ team at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020, is a life trustee of the Halberg  Foundation and in 2022 her focus will be on working to change attitudes  to disability.

In addition, the Club will present three or more students with Goal Setter Awards. These are monetary awards presented to outstanding students who have shown they can set and  achieve goals, have faced significant challenges in their lives and have given service to their  community. Eligible students are those who are in at least their second year of study at a tertiary institution in the Wellington region and are working towards the completion of an  undergraduate or post-graduate degree, a National Certificate, or structured workplace  learning for completing a New Zealand Apprenticeship.

It is an excellent occasion for our members and the business community to enjoy a dynamic  speaker and acknowledge some of our future leaders. As this event sold out in the past few  years, I encourage you to purchase a table or individual seat(s) as soon as possible. A seat is $60 and tables of ten cost $600 (including GST). Please email your request to Richard.Brodie@Xtra.co.nz and an invoice will be issued. For further information please contact Richard on 027 4392424 or by email.
