Instead of a speaker this week we have a:

Club Forum

Your chance to listen, and contribute to what makes our Rotary Club so good.

Changes are coming, the Board will explain them and how they may affect you.

Agenda

1)   Radar Awards

2)   Change in payments for breakfasts and events

3)   Breakfasts and duties

4)   Annual Plan - progress to date

5)   New members views and observations

Discussion papers for pre-reading were sent out to members Saturday evening.

President Nicole

Another excellent speaker last week. Thank you Jo for organising your son Mark to come and present on Starboard and give us all an indepth view of what is happening in the Strait of Homuz. We could have have asked questions for another hour. It was lovely that you had both sons at the meeting and won the raffle to start off your Mother's Day week.

Club Forum

We have an excellent turn out for our club forum this week -36 members. I am looking forward to your feedback on the agenda topics.  I want to thank the board for preparing these with a special mention to Nick Duncan for the change of payments paper.

Casino Night

This Saturday we have the casino night to raise funds for the ambulance that goes to Samoa on May 17th. If you are not able to make it, please buy a raffle ticket or two. Your support is much appreciated.

Have a good week.

Tree Planting Volunteering Opportunity

Let’s plant more trees!  Sunday 12 July - 1pm to 3.30pm

Please join us for our annual tree planting on Sunday 12 July at 1.00pm with The Friends of Tawa's Bush Reserves for our eighth year.  We’ve already planted over 5200 trees in total!  This year we will be in Caribbean Drive Reserve (Tawa). There will be a bit of walking from where we park our cars to get to site.

It is open to everyone including family and friends so please invite lots of people to help including Interact and Rotaract members.

You don’t have to be super fit to join.  There are many jobs such as:  digging holes; planting trees, setting out trees for planting, taking photos for the bulletin, picking up the tree packets for reusing, and / or contributing to the afternoon tea.

If you would like to take part, please register via the invitation being sent out or contact Lisa King (021 265 6220 or email lisaandmalkingnz@gmail.com) and provide your contact phone number and email address and details for family and friends attending.  Lisa will send further info when you register by 22 June. Thank you

The future looks good

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT….
Starboard Marine Intelligence

We were treated today to a presentation from our very own Jo Douglas’s son, Mark, who works for Starboard Maritime Intelligence. Mark provided an entertaining and topical outline of his company’s business and of particular interest, an update on maritime difficulties arising from the current Straits Hormuz situation.
