President
Dr Marc Rands

Club profile: Heather Lucas

I joined Rotary in New Plymouth over 6 years ago carrying on a family legacy of active participation in the community in general and Rotary in particular. Bryn and I live in Eastbourne where we returned 2 years ago after a 16-year absence. We enjoy family, friends and right now are into extensive renovations. Paint brushes at the ready!

Waikato times, 3 August 2021:
Wellington Topics. Board of Trade. A delegate to the recent Farmers’ Conference in Wellington says his enthusiasm for a State-aided shipping line and State-aided retail shops in London for the sale of New Zealand products is by no means damped by the report of an interview with Mr Massey on these Subjects published in this morning’s papers.

Stand in President and Guest Speaker: Bill Day

Bill Day addresses members

Not only did Bill do a great "stand in" for President Marc as President for the day but he also gave an overview of the Children's Hospital journey. Bill started by showing us some slides when he was associated with other organisations along with some very interesting advertisements from the 60s & 70s, and followed on with the Children's Hospital information. Following are some of the slides ............

Hero award for Megan Riley

Megan Riley receives her award from
President Marc on 21 July

The Hero Award is our club’s award to recognise non-Rotarians who support our club in an exemplary way. In the past we have presented Jane Wells the Functions Manager of the Wellington Club and Winston and Nathan from the Club with Hero’s Awards.

Megan has worked with the Auction committee for the past 2 years as the representative from the Malaghan Institute. She attended our monthly and weekly meetings and has been very much a part of the success we have enjoyed.

Megan has been of invaluable support to the Auction committee, securing tables, assisting us with prizes and being willing and helpful throughout. She has certainly strengthened our relationship with the Institute and was arranging a visit by the Club before her position was disestablished.

For these reasons we have to honoured her with a Port Nicholson Rotary Hero Award.

To fellow Rotarians.......
A NZ company,  Lanaco Ltd has donated N95 level masks to Rotary District 9940 which we are now shipping to Fiji.  The Suva East Rotary Club is managing the distribution of these to people in villages that would not normally have access to this sort of quality product.

RNZWSC has underwritten the NZ$5000 cost of transporting these to Fiji and is now asking for support to cover this cost.

The poster from RNZWSC below seeks support for this shipping cost.

Thank you for your support
