Help needed -
Waitangi Markets

We still need two volunteers for two hours on the following Sundays: 20/2, 20/3 and 3/4.

RCPN now earns $200 each Sunday we offer 6 hours of our services; money that we can  put towards various projects in the community.

Please go to the sign up page to help out at the Waitangi Markets for a couple of hours.

The Big Dig has been Postponed

In light of the red traffic light setting, this event has sadly been postponed.

RCPN on Zoom

Due to our country moving into the red traffic light setting, we are aware this may influence how comfortable you feel with being out and about in the community. You can join us on Zoom, by clicking this link or the one at the top of this bulletin.

In case you missed it...

Last week's speaker

Had been a close COVID19 contact, so we had a more inward focus, discussing club and district matters. Thanks to Richard, David, Steve and Rob for stepping up at the last minute to speak to the club.

Club Welfare Officers

RCPN has two Welfare Officers who are available to provide any support needed to help members and their families who are unwell or are in distress.

They are available anytime to chat, find help, or help directly with anything essential such as groceries, phone calls, visits, prescription pick-ups etc.

Kia ora, I've been a club member since 2020, serving on the community service committee. I work at the Ministry for the Environment Manatū mo te Taiao tasked with implementing the Māori Crown capability and capacity strategy. Outside of Rotary community work, I sit on Generation Zero and Community Research governance boards. For practically any volunteering / hands-on events I will be able to help out. I have lived on the Terrace for 18 months now.

From Rotary Down Under: Empowering Uganda’s Young mums through education

On Monday January 10, 50 Ugandan teen mums resumed their education journeys as schools across the country opened their doors for the 2022 school year, thanks to the dedication and determination of Emily Nabakooza. A true Rotary Peace Fellow Success Story, Emily is leading social change in her country by drawing attention to the need to re-engage teen mothers in education and empowering those who have fallen pregnant as a result of sexual violence.

Polio Movie Event - The Duke

The Polio Movie Event is a very popular way for clubs to raise funds for End Polio Now. This year’s event also provides an opportunity to help local cinemas recover from the pandemic. The Duke (with Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren) is “a ridiculously charming British comedy” and “stranger-than-fiction true story” of a 60-year old taxi driver who held the government to ransom by stealing Goya’s priceless portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery. For more information contact David Shackleton.

The future looks good!
