What a fabulous meeting we had on Wednesday.  About 80 people in attendance, many people from the Karori club, and many guests.  It was such a shame that John Bishop and David Watt could not attend, and we wish them well for their recoveries.

Chris Bishop spoke so well, in a frank and relaxed manner, I am sure we could have had many more questions if there was time.

Last Saturday 29 June, seven of us attended District 9940 changeover in Levin.  It was a great event, and we were presented with a Certificate of Appreciation “In recognition of achieving a Rotary Foundation Annual Giving Certificate Level 1.  It is important that we remember that this is “our” charity, and we must support it along with our chosen ones.  I want to recognise Nicole – she was going to be driving the guest speaker to Levin, but he rang her at 7am to say he couldn’t come.  Nicole drove to Levin with a USB of his speech, which in the end couldn’t’ be played due to technical difficulties.  Thank you so much Nicole for your service. At this event we saw Jocelyn Hogg become District Governor, and Carol Green become District Governor Elect.  On Wednesday, Carol presented Brent Gerrard with his District Governor Nominee pin.  We are proud of you Brent.

On a more sober note, there are some people who are well overdue with breakfast payments. Please, if you wish to discuss this, you can contact David Barnes or myself in absolute confidence and we can see if we can come to some sort of arrangement.  We pay the Wellington Club fortnightly, and need people to be up-to-date with their payments so we can meet our obligations.

Next week we begin a round of speakers to celebrate our 35th birthday, and of course the cocktail party on 8 July.  A huge vote of thanks to Bill for his organisation.

Did you know: five of our members are charter members: Geoff Smith, Howard Tong, Rob Whitney, Darryl Ross, and Peter Whittington.

Service above self.

Volunteer New Zealand Best Practice Guide
When Heidi Quinn from Volunteering New Zealand spoke to us, she referred to Best Practice Guidelines. A number of members expressed interest in accessing this information.    https://www.volunteeringnz.org.nz/best-practice-guidelines-new/ and https://www.volunteeringnz.org.nz/state-of-volunteering/
