 This week's Speaker
One of our own!     Who will it be?

Ohh how exciting, a mystery speaker!!!

What we can tell you is it will be one of our own, probably a newer addition to the club.

Member Profile: James Moran

I joined rotary in January 2020 following a move to Wellington from Hawkes Bay. I have recently joined the Goal Setters committee and am looking forward to helping organise the event. I have worked in the Property Management industry for over 12 years and currently run ‘Just Property Management’ - offering property management services to clients in the greater Wellington region. I live with my wife, Twyla, and our two Beagle dogs in Karori and enjoy walking the hounds, tinkering with my classic mini and love cooking.

Rotary Club of Port Nicholson Carbon Calculator Project

Following the club survey for the club's carbon calculator pilot, we have calculated the club was responsible for 5931kg CO2 emissions in 2021. To take responsibility for our emissions, and to contribute to addressing climate change, we would like to invite voluntary donations (to club account: 03-0502-0132476-000, marked as Carbon) to help offset these emissions, through the carbon offset programme offered by Toitū Envirocare. Toitū is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Manaaki Whenua – Landcare Research, a Government-owned Crown Research Institute (https://www.toitu.co.nz). Depending on the contributions received, we will split the funding between the two projects below. $60 raised will allow the club emissions to be offset through the Fairtrade BSC Cook Stoves in India. Above this, we can also contribute to the Native Forest restoration in Malborough. Thank you for your help with this. If you would like information about how to reduce your emissions at home, advice from Toitū can be found here: https://www.toitu.co.nz/tools-and-resources/for-individuals#reduce.

Board update

The RCPN Board met on 14 February by zoom. Following the revision of the club’s constitution, the club’s By-laws are also being updated. Honorary membership for Gillian Robertson was approved, and a delay for the Goal Setters award ceremony and the club Auction, in light of the COVID Red Traffic light setting and Omicron was agreed. The ideas raised at the club Forum were discussed and it was agreed that club Forums were useful and should be held more often.
