The Shackleton's fridge(s) have been blessed with 40kg of Beehive Bacon for our World Famous Bacon Buttie stand to End Polio on Thursday. It sounds like it was no easy feat to squeeze it all in!
Please do support the cause on Thursday morning at the Railway Station

Member Profile: Bill Day
I have enjoyed my Rotary experiences for the past 30 years. I am married to Suzanne and have three sons all married and seven grandchildren who are very special. I was formally a senior Manager Marketing at Westpac (17 years) and have had 40 years involvement with Life Flight Trust. I am Chair of the Wellington Hospitals Foundation (since 2005) and was the instigator of the building of our new Wellington Regional Children’s Hospital due to open in 2022. I am a fiercely passionate Wellingtonian and look to give back to our region in any way I positively can.
The Port Nicholson Interact Club held a successful fundraising evening at the Penthouse theatre on Thursday evening. All profits from the film and their giveaways will go to the Blue Dragon Children's Foundation in Vietnam.
A very good crowd attended, including President Marc and Ann, Howard and Jenny, and Paula.
Left: Interactors at work, including Wellington College Co-President Kieran Sturland.

Invitation to Rotary Karori
At the Rotary Karori Meeting, at 6pm on Tuesday 9th November, we will welcome to our meeting our guest speaker, Brent Alderton, Chief Executive of the Mary Potter Hospice, who will talk about palliative care trends and challenges and the End of Life legislation which comes into effect this week.
As the End of Life legislation and it’s practical implications is a very topical issue, it may be of interest to some of your members. Any of your members would be welcome to attend.
From the President
New Zealand’s Rotary Centenary year: News item from New Zealand 100 years ago:
Waikato times, 7 November 1921: The Earth Encircled. A World-Wide Message. Direct from New York. New Radio Station Opened. Wellington, Monday.
The Postmaster-General has handed to the Press Association a copy of a radio message, which has been sent by President Harding, inaugurating the official opening of the New York central radio station, and which was received direct by the New Zealand radio station. The message reads: “To be able to send out a message by radio in the expectation that it may reach every radio station in the world is so marvellous a scientific and technical achievement as to justify special recognition. It affords peculiar gratification that such a message from the Chief Executive of the United States of America may be received in every land, under every sky, and by people with whom our nation is at peace and amity. That this happy situation may ever continue, and that peace which blesses our own land may presently become the fortune of all lands and peoples, is the earnest hope of the American nation. (Signed) G Harding.”
