Springload Te Pipītanga is a digital agency in Wellington. They are a biculturally-led and purpose-driven digital agency. They work with businesses, government, and not-for-profits to create a positive impact for people and the planet, by creating award-winning websites and apps that improve businesses and people's lives.
Emily keeps a strategic eye on the finance, people and operations. Synthesising complex information and deciphering data are among her many superpowers. Emily is passionate about whanaungatanga (relationships) and mōhiotanga (lifelong learning) she puts her good energy into creating pathways for our Māori and Pasifika young people to succeed.
Emily's topic will be "A business model of Bi-cultural leadership."
I go for a long walk each day and it has caused me to reflect in very amusing ways. Yesterday I stopped at a crossroad as a fellow in a truck with a mop of white hair and long beard pulled up. I paused illustrating my antipodean good manners to let him go but he drawls at me,’ Come on old timer, get on your way!’ Very ageist but extremely amusing. And then before I finished my perambulation a lady with a lovely small fluffy dog on a lead approached and I bent down to pat it showing my usual affection for appealing canines. The owner exclaims, “I have to be very careful as my dog gets very excited and can often cause seniors to trip and lose their balance!
I arrived home somewhat chastened as you can imagine!
Hi Port Nich Rotarians
Just 100 metres from our house here, there is a large building with this intriguing sign on the lawn. They obviously make a big fuss of President Ted and Lady Jeannie Talbot but I can assure you I much prefer being part of the team without formal signage and reverence!
Apparently, the Elks Lodge was a fraternity founded in NewYork in 1867 and is quite a thing over here. They do share some features with Rotary but we fly more under the radar!
I took this photo (on the left) as the fire station assumes a major prominence in the town. California is coming to the end of its fire season this year without any disasters thank goodness but the leaves crinkle and crackle under your feet, and as there are these majestic straight and tall pines, cedar and ash everywhere you look, everyone is extremely vigilant and there are clear protocols and signage evident.
I read that there are still many items required for our Auction Mystery Bags and Paula and her Committee will be wanting all seats at tables guaranteed very soon.
This and Goalsetters are the biggest statement we make each year as a Club and it is my hope that everyone will contribute in some way.

Virtual Conference
Time is running out to secure your ticket for the upcoming Virtual conference, being held in late October.
With a speaker list jam-packed, audiences will hear inspirational stories from business and community leaders and experts in their fields.
Key note speakers include Rotary International President Gordon R. McInally and Rotary International President-elect Stephanie Urchick.
Registration costs will be $25 per Rotarian or Rotaractor.
Once the Auction is done and dusted, we will be having a membership drive.
President Tony requests that every member think about an acquaintance who may have a Rotarian deep down within and invite them along to a meeting.

Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) 2024
Applicants are sort from suitable young people (18-24 years) for the Rotary Youth Leadership Award in the latter half of January 2024.
RYLA is a five-day intensive, high energy, challenging, residential programme to develop young
leaders from District 9940. The RYLA programme recognises, encourages and educates current and future leaders by offering them an intensive leadership experience with the cooperation of
community and culture organisations, businesses, local and national leaders.
RYLA is an invaluable programme that brings together individuals to harness creativity, diversity,
inspiration, energy and leadership to cultivate personal growth and develop meaningful personal
change and harnessing their leadership potential.
