To celebrate the Club's 35th Anniversary this weeks speaker is
Howard Tong
Howard is the third speaker in our 35th Anniversary series. He was a Charter Member of the Club, President in 2007and District 9940 District Governor 2010-11. Howard has held numerous roles in the club and the district and is a fountain of knowledge in so many areas of Rotary.
Note: Last weeks Bulletin indicated Howard and Rob Whitney would share this speaking slot, but it has been agreed Rob will speak at a future meeting.

What a pleasure it was to listen to Jean Phipps talking about her time with Port Nicholson Rotary. She was our first woman member and first woman President in the days when some men from other clubs resigned when women started to join their clubs.
Our two days of parking duty at Waitangi markets raised $900, combined with $800 which members have donated, we are only $300 way from our target of $2000. Well done people, great work. We have been allocated two more days in November.
A reminder to put your Casino Night tickets money into the Charitable Trust account please. This makes David Barnes’ life much easier, and assures Darryl that there are sufficient numbers to run the event. The decision to go ahead or cancel will be made on Monday.
At our Board meeting on Thursday the following were discussed and agreed:
Buy the Box.
This is a popular section of our meetings. We ask that if you contribute to buy the box, that you make payment into the Charitable Trust account. Given we are now electronic, payment is based on a good will system for now.
Kaikohau.
67% of respondents to the survey Strongly Agreed, or Agreed that we should continue with the Kaikohau at our morning meetings. We agreed that the President would commence each meeting with a Kaikohau, and that we provide a translation.

Tree Planting.
Some members took part in another tree planting event. This is proving to be popular and we are grateful to those who take part. There is another on 11 August, please let Lisa know if you are interested in coming along.
I am looking forward to hearing more about the history of our club, and how the past has contributed to where we are now.

Jean joined Port Nicholson Rotary Club in late 1989 shortly after the club came into existence. The fact that she was not of the male persuasion was not a problem for Port Nicholson.
Bob Moffat spoke in celebration of the Port Nicholson 35th anniversary. Bob is a Charter member of Port Nicholson and was made an Honorary member of the Club in 2016 after being a member for 27 years. Bob was President in the 1992 - 1993 year and was Chairman of the committee which ran the District Conference in the year Howard Tong was District Governor. Bob based his speech title on words from Barack Obama - Rotary: “The Audacity of Hope”.
