Activities our members volunteered at this weekend
Thank you to our members who volunteered at the Tree of Remembrance at Moore Wilson. It was a good experience and very well organised by Jean Phipps, that raised funds for Heart Kids. Brent did a great job as the Heart Kids Bear last weekend and then changed outfits to organise the Port Nicholson Gardeners this weekend, while David Shackleton fed the hungry shoppers at the Khandallah fair. Such a great effort. Thank you all.

This week's speaker

David Howman

Chair Board of Directors, Athletes Integrity Unit (World Athletics)

David is a barrister with a strong background in both sport governance and sports management who for 13 years until June 2016 was Director General of the World Anti-Doping Agency.  As a lawyer, David has represented both governing bodies and athletes. He has argued for and defended clients before many tribunals including the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

David topic is, "Sports integrity and fair play." This will be an excellent speaker to finish 2024. See you there.

What a fantastic turnout we had for our last meeting for 2024. Thank to the generous member who sponsored the bubbles and strawberries, a nice Christmas treat.

Our speaker was wonderful, interesting and funny. A great way to finish off the year. Thank you Heather for finding all these wonderful people to talk to us.

On Friday, Darryl, Yon Yi and I delivered all of the gifts to the Wellington Homeless Women’s Trust. They were so well received, and will be distributed on Christmas Day. It is lovely to be able to share with those who have less than we do. Truly the Christmas and Rotary spirit. Thank you.

Having fun, enjoying life and being happy
What a delight it was to listen to Lafu Lafu on Wednesday, as she spoke about her work with Pacific Island elderly people. It was truly inspiring in its holistic approach to the elders, and she had such an aura about her.  To read more about Lafu Lafu see below. Many thanks to Julian and all our report writers of 2024.

Clint Schoultz Chair - Take 10
Clint’s day job is Venues Catering Manager at Sky Stadium and it was when he was dining out in the city he recognised that young people become very vulnerable if they find
themselves in the city at night without support. So, in 2016 he and a group of friends began conversations around creating a safe space where people could charge their phone, be
given water (so they could make good decisions) and be supported to get home safely.
