District Assembly

Five members of our club attended the District Assembly in Palmerston North this weekend to learn, share and connect with colleagues. It was a very worthwhile opportunity. We learned about the National Conference which will be on March 20-22 in Napier. There is a limit of 400 places -see below for the link to the register.

Rotary Cans for a cause

This is a New Zealand wide rotary project. Details of how you can contribute will be

District Assembly

Over the weekend a group of us went to District Assembly in Palmerston North. The day had sessions for Presidents, Secretaries, and Treasurers, as well as general sessions. On Sunday, President Elect Nicole stayed for of President training. We will report back on this next week.

Anne Hare
It was with regret that we farewelled Anne Hare from our club on Wednesday. Anne found herself in a position in relation to the Isreal/Gaza conflict, and Rotary International’s stance (or lack thereof). I admire her for her stand. We wish you all the best Anne.

On that note, Antz, the club thinks of you, and continues to wish you well as you continue to deal with your health issue.

Port Nic rotary evening meetings once a month

From July we are going to trial having a rotary meeting one Wednesday evening a month.

The meetings will be held at the Wellington Club
They will be the 4th Wednesday in July, August and September
The cost will remain the same as the breakfast meetings.
The format will be similar to the breakfast meetings
A cash bar will be available

We look forward to your support and meeting your friends, family and colleagues who are interested in our Rotary meetings, but not so keen at the 7am start.

Professor Bev Lawton -Transforming women's health

Earlier in May Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year Professor Bev Lawton ONZM (Ngāti Porou), from the National Centre for Women's Health Research Aotearoa, had a evening in her honour.

The conversation with Professor Bryony James explored Professor Lawton's journey as a GP and researcher, examining the impact of her advocacy and how her groundbreaking work continues to shape health policy and clinical practice across Aotearoa. Congratulations Bev and Steve.

A couple of weeks ago Winston introduced us to Aanch who has taken over Winston's duties in providing a wonderful breakfast service for our club. Welcome Aanch and it is lovely to have you as part of the Port Nic Rotary team.

Peter Whittington shared his experience of being with Mark Pickering at the Emergency Department at Wellington Hospital (for 24 hours). The staff and volunteers were outstanding - their focus was on making sure all the people waiting had what they needed. They could not have been more caring.

Alex is born and bred Wellingtonian.
It is a publicly funded organization and is a region wide celebration of the people, place etc. that make up our culture. It is an opportunity for groups to share their stories.
