Cans for a cause
Please bring your cans of food to Wednesday's meeting. Rotary is aiming to donate 1 million cans this month and our donations will go to the City Mission. Thank you David and Jo for organising this.
Great to see club members
It was an absolute treat to catch up with the following members we haven't see this year- Andy Ellis, Warwick Bell and Lisa King at our meeting last week. We hope you enjoyed hearing from Andrew Little and having breakfast with us. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Brent's garden
This weekend we are doing Brent's garden. This is always a fun social event so I hope you can join us. See below for details.
Quick adaption to the new payment system
Thank you all for trying out our new payment system to register and pay for breakfast this week. 32 members registered and 30 used the new payment system. This is a great response. Thank you for your useful feedback during this test period of June, and a special thank you for Nick for doing all the modifications.
Have a good week.

GARDENING AT DG ELECT BRENT’S PLACE
Come from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Sunday 7 June 2026. It'll be a fun and satisfying morning.
Help to spruce up Brent's garden. It's mostly weeding, so bring some gloves and weeding tools.
We'll be having morning tea – a contribution will be most welcome.
Address: 16 Wade Street, Wadestown. Best to park at the top around number 25 Wade St and walk down the zig zag.
I’m excited to share that with David Barnes's inspiration and support we’re starting a small, warm, reflective Book Club, and I’d love to invite you to be part of it.
Our aim is simple: to read, reflect, and connect over books that spark thought, conversation, and personal growth. This isn’t a formal or academic space - just a relaxed gathering of curious minds who enjoy learning and sharing perspectives.
Our first book: “The Alchemist” - Paulo Coelho
Proposed time and date for our first meet-up: 5:30 pm-7:00 pm Thursday, 11 June
Location: Wellington Club, level 6 bar
If you’re interested in joining us (even if you’re not sure you can make every session), please flick me a quick reply. I’d love to get a sense of numbers and finalise the details.
Looking forward to reading, reflecting, and connecting with you all.
Ngā mihi,
Aparna Dubey
Reminder This Week - June 3
Cans for a Cause
All Rotary districts in New Zealand will be collecting Cans for a Cause during the first week of June in support of local community food banks. Our collective target is to gather one million cans nationwide.
This coordinated national effort provides an opportunity to amplify our impact, strengthen community partnerships, and showcase Rotary’s commitment to addressing food insecurity across Aotearoa.
David Barnes has kindly offered to deliver cans donated by our Club to Whakamara
We had an excellent presentation from His Worship the Honourable Andrew Little who join us for an early start to his busy schedule. He shared his vision for the city.
Instead of our usual morning meeting, this week we were treated to a visit and tour of one of Wellington's world leading innovative companies - Open Star.
If you are going to be away, please record you absence here Many thanks
