The Malaghan Institute is one of the beneficiaries of our Charity Auction. They work to harness the power of the immune system and save lives. Dr Wiig is coming to the club to tell us about challenges of securing funding and the potential of the RNA vaccine platform.

Give Every Child A Future
Rotaract Wellington are participating in Rotaract Oceania's #MoveforGECAF day, raising awareness and funds for Rotary's Give Every Child A Future, by getting up and moving on Saturday 5th November with a trip out to Somes Island.
Because of the limitations of travelling out to Somes Island, registration is essential.
RCPN plans to help with the settlement of some new refugees who arrive in Wellington in November, by providing dry pantry items.

Wine for a cause
We have had a special offer of some aged wine bin ends, to help raise money to End Polio.
The wine is a Hawkes Bay Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon blend from the 2016 vintage. Drinking very well at the moment showing nice fruit, soft tannins and a lovely finish.
The wine is offered at $90 per 6 pack; this includes a contribution of $15 to End Polio. Effectively members are paying $12.50 per bottle of wine and contributing $2.50 per bottle towards End Polio.
Hearing from Paul Ash of cyber issues last week was sobering indeed.
On a lighter note, we look forward to hearing RCPN Honorary Member and international violinist, Ben Baker play and speak briefly on his very recent time in Queenstown organising the training and performing event for young musicians. For those who have not met Ben before, our Club provided some funding towards his studies at the Yehudi Menuhin School where he was offered a place and part scholarship when he was 8. Coming top of that School, and then the Royal College of Music, paved the way for what is a busy schedule of playing frequently in the States, Central America, Europe, Scandinavia, occasionally in Australia and New Zealand, and very often throughout the UK where he has been based since leaving NZ 24 years ago! He is a proud to promote the fact that he is an Honorary Member of our Club – and is living proof of the difference Rotary’s assistance can make.
A Labour Weekend with lots of ‘the big yellow’! Hope it is a reinvigorating time for all and a chance to ‘let go’ of all the ‘rubbishy’ parts of life – for a few moments anyway.
Paul Ash, the Prime Minister’s Special Representative on Cyber and Digital, and leader of the Christchurch Call team in New Zealand, spoke to our club on 20 October.
He shared some startling statistics about the events that lead to the establishment of the Christchurch Call Community, and could have spoken for hours on the topic.
Our Annual General Meeting was held on Wednesday 12 October, with special guests Martin Garcia and Mark Wheeler.
