Wayne joined the Hospice New Zealand team in 2021 following on from 9 years with Hospice Waikato in Hamilton as Director of Nursing. Over his nursing career he has worked primarily in oncology, haematology and palliative care. He has been a Research Nurse, Clinical Nurse Specialist and Nurse Lecturer. Wayne also spent almost four years as a Senior Analyst for the Palliative Care Council of New Zealand before moving to his current role.

His topic is "The challenges faced by Hospices."

Angela Green

Executive Director at Tāwhiri Festivals and Experience

Angela's completed an MBA at the University of Auckland Graduate School of Business in 2017 and trained and worked as a performer in Wellington through the 2000s. Her management experience is drawn from producing arts and entertainment events, theatre venue administration, operations, finance and programming. She 

She has worked in roles responsible for project and financial planning, strategic thinking, stakeholder management, contract negotiation, and arts programming.

Angela is also an alumna from our first Shakespeare GCNZ NSSP in 1996! She was an early mocap artist for Peter Jackson in Jane & the Dragon (she was Jane), and first winner of the Museum Hotel Scholarship.

Her topic is "New Zealand Festival of Arts."

CanSurvive Dragon Boat Club

The CanSurvive Dragon Boat Club provide dragon boat training and camaraderie for breast cancer survivors and other women on Wellington’s challenging harbour. Their members come from all over the Wellington area including the Hutt Valley, Kapiti Coast, and Wairarapa.

In 2024 a CanSurvive team won gold medals in all race distances in the breast cancer division at the World Club and Crews Championship in Ravenna, Italy. Following this achievement they were privileged to be voted as Wellington Sports Team of the Year 2025 at the recent Āti Awa Toa Wellington Regional Sports Awards.

Their topic is "CanSurvive Dragon Boat team." They have compelling stories to share about personal journeys, and the impact of teamwork and perseverance leading to sporting success

Howard recently said to me, "Lou, let's kick the year off with a visit to Mean Doses, Tory Street. The guy who runs it is "Dean Moses"  (great spoonerism)  and he is keen to open early for us to come and sample a few of their beers and eat some delicious food from either Apache or their in house catering.

We have been there before, some years ago  - so it will be great to go back and revisit them and give them some custom.

Please feel free to bring along friends and family. With so many places closing in the CBD it would be great to support another bar and brewery that we are so lucky to have right on our doorstep, with as many people as we can get.

Let's get out there and have some fun. 

We all enjoy our annual rolling up of sleeves, donning of gumboots and having  lovely time making our auction recipients gardens look fabulous.This year we will be doing some weeding on a completely flat garden in Golf Road, Heretaunga - an easy 20 minute drive from the city. Nothing too strenuous at all (this time!). We will follow this with a light lunch and a cuppa. Some of you golfers may well be keen on going for a round afterwards.

Born in Northern Ireland and now living in New Zealand, Gráinne Moss captured the attention of the world in 1987, becoming the first Irish woman to swim the English Channel, at just 17 years of age. Moss’s story is one of resilience, endurance, and achievement, both as a swimmer and in public life.

Moss’s achievements in 1987 heralded the start of a truly remarkable open-water journey. From victories in Ireland’s open-water championships and the ‘Irish Triple Crown’, Moss has broken records and pushed the boundaries on what Irish swimmers can achieve. Her accolades are not confined to Irish waters, either. In 2001, Moss became the first Irish swimmer to swim the notorious Cook Strait between New Zealand’s North and South Islands, as well as conquering many other well known channels. Since calling New Zealand home, Moss has built a career as one of the country’s most senior public servants. The same qualities that carry her through bitterly cold seas have shaped her leadership on land: endurance, clarity of purpose and a willingness to take on challenges.

Andrew Cameron

Humanitarian Nurse

Andrew is a Registered Nurse, and Midwife, clinically specialised in Emergency Nursing, Intensive Care, Rural Camp; Isolated Practice, Immunisation Practice and Public Health. He has a Master’s degree in Tropical Public Health, and many years of experience as a rural and remote nurse and as a Director of Nursing. posts include Australia, Kenya, Sudan, Yemen, Iraq, Georgia, Sierra Leone, Djibouti, South Sudan (twice), Afghanistan (four tours), Ukraine, Rwanda, and most recently (2025) in Gaza. In 2011, recognised for exemplary standards, he was awarded the Florence Nightingale Medal by the Governor General, for exceptional courage and devotion to victims of armed conflict. In The Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2013, he received the medal of the Order of Australia from the Governor of Queensland, for services to nursing.

Andrew topic is, " Providing humanitarian aide as a nurse in the world's most challenging environments. (Gaza, Afghanistan, Ukraine)."

Andrew Little

Wellington City Council

Andrew Little (born 1965) is a long‑serving figure in New Zealand public life. Before entering Parliament, he led the Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union for over a decade.

He became Leader of the Labour Party and Leader of the Opposition (2014–2017), stepping aside shortly before the 2017 election—a move widely credited with helping Labour’s resurgence under Jacinda Ardern.

He then served as a senior Cabinet Minister (2017–2023) across portfolios including Justice, Health, Defence, and Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations.

After Labour’s 2023 defeat, he left Parliament and later returned to public office as Mayor of Wellington in 2025.
