Let’s plant trees to help our planet! Sunday 12 June 1pm I hope you can join us for our annual tree planting on Sunday 12 June at 1.00pm. The Rotary Club of Port Nicholson has teamed up with The Friends of Tawas Bush Reserves for the fifth year in a row to plant trees at Woodburn Bush Reserve, 66 Bing Lucas Drive, Tawa. Our goal is to build on what we have done in the last four years – over 1900 trees in total! We will continue planting native trees in Tawa to regenerate our native Bush to provide habitat and food for the increasing numbers of native birds, to make lovely walking areas for us all, and to help slow down climate change. This is open to everyone including family and friends. Interact and Rotaract members are very welcome to join us so please let them know. Tree planting is for everyone. You don’t have to be super fit to join us. There are several jobs to choose from or you could do some of each such as: digging holes; planting trees, setting out trees for planting, picking up the tree packets for reusing, and / or contributing to the afternoon tea. There are lots of ways to contribute and everybody is welcome to come along. If you would like to take part, please accept this invitation and provide your contact phone number and email address. I am coordinating the Club’s participation and can be reached on 021 265 6220 or email landm.king@xtra.co.nz If you’re joining us for the tree planting here are the details:

It's time again for our annual "Bacon Butties for Polio", at the Wellington train station. This is a well loved event, by Rotarians and the general public alike - who doesn't love a bacon buttie, let alone supporting a very worthy cause?! Volunteers will be outside the Wellington Railway Station from early morning till around lunchtime, luring commuters with that unmistakable bacon smell, and raising funds to go towards Rotary's ongoing fight against Polio. |
