What a great meeting last week. We had everything, including the induction of a new member, a great speech from our our young student wha attended the Science Forum, an inspirational speech from a new member, the presentation of a cheque to Malaghan Institute and to cap it all the granting of a PHF. This week the Agenda will not be so jammed packed but I am sure equally as interesting.

On Friday a few of us are going to the District Conference in New Plymouth. It looks like a great programme and the numbers who have registered to attend is over 220. There is still some room so for those who are still thinking of going, but you will need to be quick. Thanks to the members who bid or donated to the silent auction to support members of Rotaract and to Bev for offering them a lift.

Don’t forget our Charity Auction next month still requires our support, so let’s buy tickets and use our networks to buy tables and source great items for the Mystery Boxes.

See you Wednesday.

Mark

Farewell Mac Piano!
Our Waterfront Pianos

Some sad news about our Waterfront pianos.

Unfortunately piano No 2 at Macs Brew Bar has played its last tune. Having played tunes for Duncan and Karen Holland over many years it was given a new lease of life and  put out to pasture on the waterfront where it has kept many a Mac's Brew Bar patron happy for the last couple of years. However unfortunately it has expired and the inside rotted out so it is no longer. See photo below of it loaded and off to the scrap merchant.

RIP piano and again many thanks to Karen and Duncan. We will look to replace it over summer.

Thankfully piano No 1 at Tuatua  Cafe by Frank Kitts Park lives on and had its annual tune up just before Christmas and a recent outing for a few weeks at the Civic centre . However it suffered a minor break and entry as some young persons broke into one of the cash boxes and removed some of the takings. The day was saved by one of the local retailers  who intervened before too much damage was done. The offenders, if they could found, would no doubt benefit by attending a RYPEN.
