Just a reminder that one of two signature events take place in a couple of weeks. Make sure you are touching your networks and getting anyone you can to come along. With the Prime Minister in the house, we really want to fill it up!

See you Wednesday,
Mark

Stories
Speaker: President Mark Cassidy

President Mark addressed the club by describing some of the challenges he sees and asks us all to consider how we as members can work through these and generate some useful actions to move us forward.

Membership is always a challenge - not just for Rotary but for almost any service organisation that asks for a time commitment.

But what drives membership?....it's the overall package that we sell to existing members, guests and anyone that interacts with us. Good events, good speakers and good causes that resonate with a wider group. These are the things that keep us engaged and wanting to carry on with our participation.

But what drives the events and causes? The initiatives that we as members and committees dream up are the gold dust that we sprinkle about the club - we ask for others to join us and drive them into events. We need to ensure that these initiatives will attract the interest of our members and we can leverage them to generate interest to attract new people into our club.

Ours is a slowly decreasing membership and we need to arrest this and increase our numbers. Put your thinking caps on...any ideas can be passed to the Board for consideration...it's up to you. Take action.

WFA

As you will be aware Rotary has been raising funds in 2015/16 for an ambulance fit out and funding was achieved late last year and we are about to celebrate this with Wellington Free Ambulance and  DG Martin at a hand over ceremony at WFA's centre in Davis Street in Thorndon  on the 23rd February which is also Rotary's 112th birthday. We will look to use this opportunity to let our community know about our efforts.
Port Nic Perambulators Feb 2017

The Port Nic Perambulators braved the weather and reached the top of one of the Eastern Hutt landmarks with fantastic views over the Hutt Valley down the harbour to Wellington city. A great walk. Afterwards we enjoyed a very welcome cup of coffee and sumptuous cheese scones at Peter and Barbara Whittington’s - thank you.
